Field Notes on Decembering: Slow, Warm & Cozy End-of-Year Musings
A gentle invitation to soften, slow down, and let December hold you with honesty and presence.
December feels different than any other month. In the past, it often felt like the most chaotic—holiday parties layered onto travel plans layered onto the everyday responsibilities that never slow down just because the calendar says “festive.”
However, over the past couple of years, I have started taking the time to pause, to look around, and to really feel where I am in the year instead of sprinting to the finish.
I have come to think of “Decembering” as both a verb and a practice—a conscious choice to soften the edges of life a bit. To welcome slowness. To focus on warmth, meaning, and intentional presence before January arrives asking me to dream big again.
